Are you interested in gaining hands-on experience in survivor-centered care for your Bachelor's- or Master's-level internship? Enhance your learning by applying for an internship with Survivor Resource Center.

Internships are available at both our Danville, IL, and Paris, IL, offices. Interns gain hands-on experience in the human services field by working directly with clients. These opportunities help build practical skills and professional confidence that support long‑term career growth.

Internship FAQs
Q: What population of clients does Survivor Resource Center work with?
A: Survivor Resource Center offers services to survivors of sexual assault and their families/loved ones who also are impacted by the assault.

Q: Is this internship paid?
A: Survivor Resource Center does not pay interns or provide any stipend.
​
Q: What level of education do you need to have as an intern?
A: Interns must be currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor's OR master's level program.

Q: Do I receive any special training for working with sexual assault survivors?
A: Yes, before hands-on learning begins, every intern completes 40 hours of sexual assault crisis intervention training that is provided by Survivor Resource Center. Travel may be required for this training depending on availability.

Q: What departments do you accept interns for?
A: All client or community facing departments accept interns (counseling, advocacy, prevention education). Interns can customize their learning plan to work with all departments if desired.

Q: Do you have an MSW to provide on-site supervision?
A: Yes, Survivor Resource Center has staff that have earned their MSW to provide supervision.

Q: Is this internship virtual?
A: No, any internship with Survivor Resource Center is in-person at either or both locations. Interns must be in-person to complete internship.

Q: Will I have my own caseload as an intern?
A: Master's-level counseling interns are able to carry their own caseload. Bachelor's-level counseling interns will always have a current staff member present when interacting with clients.

Q: What degrees can apply for internships?
A: Survivor Resource Center offers the unique opportunity for a variety of majors/degrees to intern. These include social work, criminal justice/criminology, human services, clinical counseling, psychology, sociology. If you are curious if your degree would qualify, contact us.
